Animal inspired jewelry has been around since the dawn of time, literally. When you look back at some of the first paintings and depictions of civilization, they used pieces of the animals they captured to wear as adornments. It’s pretty amazing if you really think about it. People have been incorporating animals into their ensambles as a sign of power, as a way to show which tribe or group you come from, and as a way just to be unique.
Today’s animal motif trend in fashion and jewelry hasn’t changed much. Sure, we use hematite and resin as opposed to mud and rocks… but when you think about it, it’s still the same idea. A fun trend I’ve been seeing pop up this spring isn’t animal print jewelry, it’s actual animal jewelry. Peacock pendant necklaces, snake wrap cuffs, elephant stud earrings.. you name it! A few notible brands taking this trend to the next level are nOir, Elizabeth and James and Kenneth Jay Lane. I personally love my collection of animal motif jewelry and it really never goes out of style.
